This is a CT scan of a bakelite radio with a tube amplification system and a radial tuner. The Needle of the tuner can be barely be seen as a green pointer towards 10:00 extending from the central purple circle. The on/off switch is located on the lower right side of the unit, and the tuning dial can be seen on its lower left (recall that sides are reversed when looking at scans). The speaker is the round purple wheel-shaped object in the very center with three spokes extending outward. This radio had a very dense amplifier and streaks from the scan can be seen eminating from the edges of the bakelite shell.
Special thanks to Tekserve for loaning this beautiful example of a bakelite tube radio. |
