This is a CT scan of a package of creme-filled chocolate cupcakes. In the usual radiologyart technique, the scan was performed without opening the package so that everything could be revealed. The plastic container is seen in purple. The characteristic loop pattern of icing is clearly visible on top as is the chocolate frosting (in yellow). The chocolate cake is visualized here in green, and finally, the creme filling is seen as nearly perfect little blue spheres. This is a surprising result and warrants further conjecture as to how these little worlds of creme are created. Just a hint of the plastic package is seen at either end as linear clouds of pink. This is where the plastic has been made slightly denser by fusing the ends of the package, and allowing it to be more easily differentiated from the surrounding air in the scan.
