This is a CT scan of a bag of cheddar cheese flavored potato chips. Surprisingly, the bag is half full (or half empty depending on one's disposition). Normally when the bag is opened, the volume of chips is disappointing at best. While many broken chips can be visualized at the bottom of the bag, there remain enough intact chips to make the dining experience enjoyable. The scientific question arises; how did these chips survive so well? Note the textured ridges of the chips which may provide strength during shipment.

Of technical note, the thinness of this mylar bag was extremely difficult to visualize. Here we see it beautifully rendered including the central overlap.
